Elitism? Or what?
I’ve always wanted to learn to sail… from as far back as I can remember and so recently I’ve been looking to join a sailing club.
You would have thought that living near the Solent it would be relatively easy…
… right?
…wrong!
One club I contacted with regards to joining must be some elitist club.
“Oh no sir,” came the patonising voice, “… we only take on members who’ve been recommended by our full members…”
I wonder how they got their very first member..? ![]()
Naturally I removed the link I had to this sailing club from this blog.
So, I contacted another sailing club which is quite local to me.
“Sorry sir, you’re not in our area..”
Not in your area? Isn’t my currency the same???
Not in your area my eye!
Another link I removed.
This is getting to be a habit…
I’ve just contacted a third sailing club, who are only a few short miles from me.
It’s the second time in 2 weeks I’ve contacted them via their website…
I’ve yet to get a reply…
… and I’ve even sent an email to the Vice Commodore of the club…
… twice now…
Nope.
No reply.
… say’s a lot doesn’t it?
I think I’ll join my local gym instead…
… they have rowing machines… and a pool
