Had relations over this weekend from abroad.
They’ve not seen this part of the country and so we did the usual tour with them covering Burley, Mudeford, Lymington and a couple of beaches.
Took the opportunity of driving through some parts of the New Forest and taking a closer look at the wonderful luch acres and acres of purple / maroon heather.
I remember back in my London days when you’d see little old ladies hanging around tube stations trying to flog you a sprig of lucky heather for an extortionate price! Lucky heather? At a fiver a throw?
I see acres and acres of the wonderful colour from my train commute… and seeing it in the morning light (when I’m not too bleary eyed) with all the wildlife is just magnificent.
Sure as hell beats that M3 commute… that 200 mile round trip I did every
day for a year. The only animals I’d see on the M3 were roadkill.
As I said, we took the relations on a wonderful tour around the area.
We’ve taken people around Burley many times already, although this time we checked out the cider place… and introduced the relations to scrumpy!
As I’ve mentioned before, I have a really low (and I mean “low”) tolerance to alcohol and.. well… I had to sample a little bit… Ended buying a couple of those big containers of the stuff… bad move… anyway… that’s another story
Anyway, in October, there’s an open day at the Burley cider place and as it’s my birthday around the time of the open day, I’m trying to negotiate with the Lady Wife for a trip there… that’s providing I can check out of “Ye Olde Rehabe For Local Yokels Who Can’t Take Their Scrumpy” beforehand.
We always love taking visitors and relations around the area… gives us a chance to leave the DIY and chores for another week or so and just enjoy the area. The sea… the countryside… taking photos… and of course… the scrumpy!
As I mentioned, we visited Lymington.
I love the part in Lymington where you enter the main part… turn a corner and there’s the marina… always brings out a “wow” from those who don’t know what’s around the corner. As usualt I took zillions of picces around
Lymington. There’s just something about boats and yachts that I can’t get enough of.
Works going ok… had my initial 3 month position extended… an ok way to make ends meet while I job hunt at a slower pace.
In fact, life now is such a slower pace in general. I can feel it totally. It took some time but it’s working. Although my sleep pattern is screwed up from that year long of 4:30am wake-ups and being constantly overtired… it feels a lot better. Damn… that was the whole idea.
Talking about work, just the other day I realised that there were past colleagues at my last workplace who I haven’t even thought about even once since I left 5 months ago! The mind can play tricks at times… and at other times it’s a great healer
Scrumpy can help too
Oh… my sunflowers are doing brilliant too… and we’re waiting for a really big guy to spread his flower and greet the world. He’s gonna be a biggie!

The talk of scrumpy, brought long forgotten memories back of my younger self indulgences and, oh so happy times.
Thank you.
