Moved from busy London down to near the Solent in Hampshire, UK.
Been having to travel to and from London every day to work and shortly handing in my notice in my current work to concentrate on finding temp / contract work down here.
However, this April I simply have to make the break with commuting to and from London…
…let’s see what the future has in store, shall we?

Don’t know what you call it up here but back in australia we refer to this kind of stuff as a ’seachange’, kinda ironic i suppose, considering you’re living by the sea and all… Who knows…
Life changes are important, heck without a life change I wouldn’t have ended up in London nor in my current place of work…
For me it was less about the commute etc rather the daily routine and the absolute bordem of the routine.. Every week i’d goto work, see the same people and do the same things.. Every weekend would be spent at the pub or in front of the telly watching sport and drinking beer… Til one day I decided to pick up and shift
I had a burning desire to reconnect with my irish roots, Europe and travel is a right of passage for any young australian chap… so it was set and off I went.. No one was really happy about it, least of all my parents, friends and dog… But it was one point in my life where I felt i was doing something for me rather then to fill some expectation or serve someone elses purpose..
6 months on.. Has the experiment been a success?? I’d say so.. I’m in an industry that is loosly attached to what I used to do on a couple of levels so a saftey net of sorts is maintained.. but im also exposed to a great deal of new challenges and new people to learn from/about.. I’ve visited a bunch of countries and have a bunch of trips lined up for the next little while..
Do I miss my old life? I most definitely do, not because of the comfort and the ease at which i lived it.. moreso the relationships i had fostered, the environment i had created etc.. But london is willing to meet me halfway in that respect, granted my living arrangements are a bit below spec.. but thats made up for by the people i’m around and the things i get to see..
Life isn’t meant to be impossible.. Its supposed to be manageably difficult.. If it was easy then there wouldn’t be any problems in the world.. if it was too hard then there wouldn’t be any good in the world..
Enough late night rambling from me i think… I will muse about this again at a later time…

Hi there Boxhead.
Many thanks for taking the time to leave a comment.
Good luck with your continuing “seachange”… and happy musing
Me… I’ve got a *lot* of musing to do this week…
Kind regards
The more I think about your posting Boxhead… the more I think about what a brave step it was that you took…
